As part of the
U.S. Route 22, Section B02 project, PennDOT will construct
approximately 1.2 acres of wetlands to compensate for wetland
impacts resulting from the construction of Section B01
(Allegheny/Westmoreland county line to the Cozy Inn Cut-off)
and Section B02 (Cozy Inn Cut-off to the Route 22/66
interchange). The replacement wetlands will be constructed on
the south side of Wiestertown Road in the new Murrysville
Community Park.
A
pavilion, walking trail, educational signs, and a small
parking area will be constructed at the site under the Section
B02 contract. Development of the wetland replacement
area was conducted in close coordination with the Municipality
of Murrysville, who will retain ownership of the property.
Upon
completion, the wetland mitigation site will be open to the
public as part of the Murrysville park system. Park hours and
regulations will apply.
