PennDOT District 12-0 has worked to
improve your drive on U.S. Route 22 in Westmoreland County. The
U.S. Route 22, Section B10 Project involved the reconstruction
of the existing two and three lane roadway to four 12-foot lanes
of plain cement concrete pavement with an 18-foot concrete
median. The project was 2.5 miles long and
begins at Auction Barn Road (T-693) and continued east to the
Westmoreland/Indiana County line at the Conemaugh River Bridge
near the Route 217 intersection. A new bridge was
constructed over Stoney Run and a new traffic signal was
installed at the Jonnet Road intersection. The project also
included paved shoulders, drainage pipe and inlet improvements.
The project was awarded to New
Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. for a contract amount of
$33,999,522 and the Notice to Proceed was issued on October 3,
2008. The project was completed in the summer
of 2011.
