CHANGE IN TRAFFIC PATTERNS
NOVEMBER 4, 2009.
See News link.
The
U.S. Route 22, Section B09 Project was let on September 13, 2007.
Golden Triangle Construction was the low bidder and was awarded the
project for a contract amount of $19,588,000. Nearly 1.9 miles of
the existing three and four lane roadway will be restored to four
12-foot lanes with an 18-foot non-traversable concrete median/glare
screen. The project is located between the Rt. 22/S.R. 982
intersection and extends to the Rt. 22/ Auction Barn Road (T-693)
intersection. A traffic signal will be installed at the S.R. 982
intersection. Openings in the median will be created to allow for
left turns where appropriate.
The
reconstruction of U.S. Route 22, Section B09 will impact 0.19 acres
of wetlands, which will be replaced as part of the Section B08
construction contract. The
wetland
mitigation site is located on property owned by the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers in Derry Township.
Construction activities are expected to slow traffic in the
project area, especially during peak traffic times. No detours are
planned, and access to local businesses and residences will be
maintained during construction. Construction is expected to require
24 months (to be completed in Fall 2010).
