0022-B08 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
OCTOBER 2009
Major construction
on Section B08 was completed in September 2009. All road
closures and detours have been lifted and the permanent median
barriers are in place. Please go to the Photographs link
to view photos of the completed section.
August 2009:
Major
construction is finishing up and the existing lane restrictions
will be removed in September. All road closures or detours have
been lifted. Construction activities consist of finishing the
construction of the median barrier, islands, and driveway access
construction.
JUNE 2009:
Progress
continues with the reconstruction and widening of U.S. Route 22,
Section B08 in Westmoreland County from S.R. 981 in New
Alexandria to S.R. 982 in Derry Township. Approximately 4.3
miles of Route 22 will be reconstructed with four new concrete
traffic lanes with a median divider, new drainage, and several
jug handles to allow traffic to switch directions between
westbound and eastbound lanes.
Concrete
paving of the eastbound lanes was completed in Fall 2008 and
traffic has been shifted onto it. Single lane traffic will be
maintained eastbound and westbound.
Construction of
B08 has been proceeding as anticipated since the project began
in 2006. In May 2009, the traffic patterns were altered to
accommodate the current phase of construction. As of June 2009
all of the concrete for Rt. 22 Mainline has been poured. The
work in now focusing on pouring the islands and median
barriers. Nearly all of the side road improvements have been
completed with only Ten School Road and Boones Road still
closed to traffic. No other road closures or changes in
traffic patterns are anticipated until the project is completed
in September 2009.
Please use caution while
traveling through the construction zones. |
