The U.S. Route 22, Section B08 project was let on December 15,
2005. Golden Triangle Construction was the low bidder and was
awarded the project for a contract amount of $35,408,791.
Approximately 4.3 miles of Route 22 will be reconstructed with four
new concrete traffic lanes with a median divider, new drainage, and
several jughandles to allow traffic to switch directions between
westbound and eastbound lanes.
Construction activities are expected to slow traffic in the project
area, especially during peak traffic times. Access to businesses
and residents will be maintained during construction. Temporary
detours will be posted at various times during construction for
selected side roads. Construction is expected to last three years
(Spring 2006 to Fall 2009).
The
reconstruction of U.S. Route 22, Section B08 will impact 2.05 acres
of wetlands, which will be replaced at a
wetland mitigation site
on property owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Derry
Township.
